Peter Scott Haberly, 73, of Hilo died Sept. 6 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Barrington, Ill., he was a retired equine veterinarian. Private services at a later date. Survived by stepsons, Lloyd (Lisa) Willoz of Davie, Fla., and Bob (Sharon) Haberly of Crescent City, Fla.; hanai brothers, Jim Tacker of Kealakekua and Ron Hayes of Hilo. Laura Belle Grey Tavares, 90, of Honomu died Sept. 7 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Honolulu, she was a special needs caregiver. Private service held. Survived by daughter, Sandie (Mike) Kaleikini of Hilo; sons, Marion (Ann) Tavares of Hilo and Ringo Roach of Fern Forest; sister, Maureen Powell of Alaska; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
